Salix Homes, a social housing provider with over 8,000 properties owned and managed around Salford, faced a significant hurdle in their waste management operations. They had a pressing need for innovation to boost efficiency, accurate waste reporting for compliance, and ultimately reduced costs. Their existing system, which relied on large 35-yard roll-on/roll-off skips, presented several key drawbacks. These traditional skips not only consumed valuable yard space but also raised safety concerns due to frequent large vehicle movements on-site. Furthermore, their open design meant they were susceptible to misuse by unauthorised individuals, leading to an untidy environment and inefficient waste segregation.

TPMS successfully addressed Salix Homes’ objectives by implementing the Wascle Smart Skip solution. This innovative solution offered a controlled and efficient approach to waste disposal directly tackling the problems associated with traditional skips. This was achieved by:
- Eliminating the need for multiple large skips, significantly freeing up valuable yard space and mitigating safety risks posed by frequent large vehicle operations
- Access-code protected skips ensured only authorised personnel used them, preventing unauthorised dumping and maintaining site tidiness
- Secure, controlled access facilitated more precise waste reporting and better waste stream categorisation
- Optimised waste disposal and reduced misuse, leading to substantial cost efficiencies
