Bromsgrove District Housing Trust are the largest provider of affordable housing in Bromsgrove and the surrounding area. Throughout 2019, more than 130 bdht employees have swapped one day, or 7.5 hours on the job to pledge their time to support good causes as part of their 1,000 Hours charity campaign.
The bdht team has enjoyed a busy couple of months helping the local community on a wide range of projects including garden makeovers, decorating, renovation and community fun days.
To mark the end of the campaign, a team of volunteers visited Primrose Hospice, a charity dedicated to supporting patients with life-limiting illness and their families. Armed with their paintbrushes and rollers the volunteers were on a mission to brighten up the meeting room, kitchen and hallway at the Coppice Centre, a dedicated and well-used treatment facility.
Supporting the team from bdht were colleagues from Travis Perkins Managed Services, who donated both time and materials for the project.
Samantha Powell, HR Officer at bdht, said: “The 1000 hours initiative has taken our team on a fantastic journey. We are incredibly proud to have given back to local organisations which play such a vital role in the community.
“We’d also like to thank Travis Perkins Managed Services for their support on this project, we really appreciate the donation of the materials and the extra pairs of painting hands were invaluable.”
Jo Wright, Volunteers Manager at Primrose Hospice, said: “We are absolutely delighted with the results of our Coppice Centre makeover. bdht and Travis Perkins Managed Services worked tirelessly to improve our meeting area, which serves as a really important hub for our dedicated care team.”
Following the success of this year’s project, bdht will be looking to relaunch the 1000 hours community project in 2020.
