Dagenham, February 24, 2024: In the diverse East London Borough of Barking & Dagenham, a celebration of unity and inclusion took place at the recent Daggers Diversity Day, a Dagenham & Redbridge Football Club collaborative event supported by TPMS together with our customerBD Group.

At the heart of the celebration was an amazing competition, inviting children from Primary Schools across the borough to unleash their creativity and design a Match Day Programme cover inspired by the theme of diversity. The response was nothing short of inspiring, with youngsters using their imagination to depict the rich tapestry of cultures and backgrounds that define Dagenham.

Thanks to the support of the TPMS Legacy Fund and in partnership with BD Group, a funding injection of £5000 ensured that approximately 2000 tickets were allocated to children and their families who might not ordinarily have the opportunity to experience football in this way – granting them access and enabling a match day experience. Furthermore, this funding provided a fantastic hospitality package, affording the competition winner and their family some VIP treatment !

From mingling with players to half time penalty kick offs and indulging in a delicious three-course meal, every aspect of the hospitality package exuded warmth and inclusivity. The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the chance for the competition winner to grace the cover of the Match Day Programme, a symbol of their creative achievement and the Borough’s commitment to celebrating diversity.

“Daggers Diversity Day served as a reminder of the beauty that lies in embracing our differences, and we at Travis Perkins Managed Services are really proud to be able to support/be part of such fantastic community projects”, said Deb Spencer, TPMS Account Manager for BD Group.

Stephen Falzon, Stores Manager Travis Perkins said “The Dagger’s Diversity Day really epitomised the Community feelings within the borough. It was an absolute pleasure to see the enjoyment in the eyes of the kids who attended and I am very proud of the fact that B&D with the support of TPMS were able to bring so many people in the local community together. It’s events like this that young people will take with them as they grow up, creating a more inclusive and diverse community for all.”

In the heart of Dagenham, where diversity flourishes, Daggers Diversity Day is a real celebration of community, acceptance, and belonging. Together communities unite in diversity, and focus on a commitment to create space where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.
