At Travis Perkins Managed Services (TPMS), our social value commitments are integral to our partnerships. We are dedicated to investing in the local communities our partners serve, not just through efficient service but by actively supporting initiatives that create healthier, more sustainable, and more equitable neighbourhoods. Our collaboration with Clarion Futures on their ‘Like to Bike’ project is a prime example of this commitment in action.

The Initiative: ‘Like to Bike’ Project

Clarion Futures’ ‘Like to Bike’ project tackles community cycling barriers, including affordability, safety, and infrastructure. It uses bikes to foster connections, improve well-being, and offer a clean, low-carbon alternative to cars. Following a successful pilot, Clarion sought to expand the project’s reach in 2024, targeting new urban and rural areas affected by congestion and poor air quality.

Partnering for a Greener Future

TPMS played a pivotal role in this expansion, providing crucial funding to help scale the project across England. Our support is directly enabling Clarion to:

  • Ensure bikes are available for residents to try and for Clarion staff to use in their day-to-day jobs.
  • Deliver training and engagement events with local partners, giving people the confidence and skills to cycle.
  • Co-design safer neighbourhood routes to address safety concerns and build a lasting cycling culture.
  • Enabling the transition to low-carbon transport and supporting their ambitious 2050 net-zero target.

Delivering Tangible Community Impact

Our ‘Like to Bike’ partnership is already delivering significant benefits by improving health, reducing pollution, and promoting sustainable travel.

The project is progressing towards its target of engaging 150 local people and at least 15 staff, instilling long-term, environmentally friendly behaviours. This initiative shows social value in action, empowering our partners to deliver scalable, community-led change across the housing sector.

“Travis Perkins Managed Services played a pivotal role in expanding Like to Bike, enabling access to bikes, training, and community events across England. Their support is helping Clarion communities embrace sustainable travel and healthier lifestyles.”
