Cottsway Housing is looking to help customers whose livelihood has been affected adversely by the Coronavirus pandemic.

The scheme has been made possible thanks to a donation from Cottsway supply chain partner, Travis Perkins Managed Services.

Cottsway residents who have lost their job or been furloughed as a result of the UK lockdown, can benefit from the housing association’s free coaching and mentoring sessions to help them learn, build confidence and get back on track.

The free mentoring will offer a confidential, dedicated one-to-one service online, helping individuals to set goals to improve their circumstances. This could include updating CVs, looking at training courses to enhance existing skillsets or developing a better understanding of the financial support available.

Cottsway’s Communities Manager, Vicki Paxford said: “Here at Cottsway we always want to support our customers. By offering free mentoring and coaching sessions over the next 6-months means we can help those most affected by the pandemic improve their health and well-being, learn new skills and increase job prospects.”

The sessions, due to start in late October, are being led by Neil Holman, an independent consultant specialising in employment support and mental health issues. Each month Neil will offer attendees three hours of one-to-one support, either over the phone or online, along with unlimited email encouragement.

Mr Holman said: “I’m delighted to be working with Cottsway on this project. Many people’s lives have been turned upside down during 2020. Some have been on furlough for months and some have unfortunately experienced job loss and may be feeling at a loss. Coaching and mentoring will help them not only with practical advice and guidance, but we will also work on their self-confidence to support them in taking a positive step forward.”
