The Grow Together Allotment is a community facility developed to encourage all ages to work together. Managed by the Duston Youth Club in collaboration with Voluntary Impact’s School for Life, the community initiative was recently awarded the Silver Gilt Award by the 2017 Northampton in Bloom judges.
Travis Perkins Managed Services, a supply chain and procurement solutions provider, has been continually donating their time and materials to this wonderful initiative. Recently, a team of 8 TPMS volunteers went to the site to help get it into working order, and donated all sorts of materials, from turf to a shed.
The Grow Together Allotment is located on Berrywood Road and was first acquired by Duston Parish Council on the 1st April 2016. In a matter of months, the space was transformed with a grand opening held on the 16th June 2016 to celebrate, and to mark the occasion, Golby’s donated a fruit tree and Perkins Florist donated a herb garden.
The Grow Together Allotment holds volunteering days every month, aiming for those young and old in the community to come together and learn new allotment and growing skills.
Jenny Evans, Youth Work Manager, The Grow Together Allotment said: “Our partnership with Travis Perkins is wonderful and we would like to thank all the volunteers that have joined us and keep returning, their hard work is invaluable together with funding from Travis Perkins Managed Services. The Grow Together Allotment provides a space for young and old to come together and share not only gardening skills but friendship and life experiences”
TPMS would like to thank The Grow Together Allotment for their community service and extend our congratulations on the Silver Gilt Award!
