Magenta Living and HYPE Urban Bikes organised a cycling roadshow in six communities in Wirral, with the aim of encouraging more people to be active through cycling. This project was funded by Travis Perkins Managed Services.

At each roadshow, HYPE’s team of mechanics serviced residents’ bicycles and gave tips and advice on how to fix and maintain bikes to keep them in good working condition. Children and young people had the chance to test their bike skills on small challenges, and information was provided in relation to road safety and healthy living.

Attendees were taken on a short ride around each area’s local park by HYPE’s qualified cyclists. These rides highlighted the safest routes for families to ride their bikes and keep active around where they live.

Alongside this, Magenta Living conducted a survey of 100 people who attended the roadshows, to find out more about what can be done to support cyclists and encourage more people to get active.

Jamie Martin, Head of Community Regeneration at Magenta Living commented: ‘Great to see our partnership with Travis Perkins Managed Services enabling us to connect with people within our communities who don’t tend to engage with more formal events. Cycling is healthy, environmentally friendly and cheap so it’s a win-win situation if we can assist members of our communities to get involved. HYPE have done an excellent job in tuning in to what people want locally and delivering it in our key neighbourhoods.’

We are proud to work closely with our partners to improve the lives of local people within their communities, and the ReCycle Roadshow was a perfect project to do this.
