As part of their commitment to building homes and communities that customers love to live in LiveWest have been working in partnership with local customers, Travis Perkins Managed Services, National Citizenship Service (NCS) and Active Plus to redevelop a green play space in Roscadghill near Penzance in Cornwall.
Along with our partners, we have jointly funded this redevelopment, taking an unused green space and creating a safe play space for children as well as refurbishing the Roscadghill Community Kabin building, which the community can now use for upcoming activities.
Local customers have actively helped to create the space, getting involved in consultations throughout and providing the initial idea behind creating a new central point for this scheme. The project culminated in an opening event recently where everyone involved was able to come together and celebrate this great new asset for the community.
Keri Millar, LiveWest Community Connector said: ‘’It is great to have the opportunity to bring a new lease of life into the Roscadghill Community Kabin, and our local customers have been a real driving force in making this happen, along with the support from TPMS funding, and Active Plus Instructors. Thanks also to NCS for coming along to help with the volunteering at the kabin.’’
Danny O’Shea, Team Leader at NCS said; “NCS is a government backed scheme, where we encourage young people to engage in projects which will benefit their local community. Our social action project (SAP) takes place in the final two weeks of a four-week project and is one that the young people design and plan themselves. For this SAP, the young people chose to renovate the Roscadghill Community Kabin. They were involved in preparing and painting the inside of the kabin and the surrounding fence. They had great fun completing this task and relished the opportunity to help renovate the kabin, which the local community can now use. Young people aged between 15-17 years old can get involved in other great projects like this one by signing up at www.ncsyes.co.uk.’’
