Travis Perkins Managed Services supported Northampton Borough Council to provide volunteers and materials for their local community investment project at Park Square, Kings Heath. At Travis Perkins Managed Services we specialise in building procurement solutions. This meant we could assist Northampton Council with their aim to rejuvenate Park Square.
Local shop owners and residents were concerned that the square had become run down, with local youths targeting the area for vandalism and tagging the surrounding businesses and homes with graffiti. As part of our social value project we worked in partnership with the Council to rejuvenate the area. This focus of this project was to give back to the community so we consulted residents on their opinions to generate a sense of involvement and community spirit.
The regenerated square looks lighter, brighter and has increased visibility in the evenings when the light is low. Local residents have reported this community engagement project has made them feel safer and happier, increasing the sense of community.

We had some great plans for one of our summer community events but, despite support from residents and other local organisations, we didn’t have enough man-power to do everything we wanted to.
