In partnership with Travis Perkins Managed Services, a team of Axis volunteers and subcontractors recently joined forces to refurbish Pickering Hall in Westminster.

Axis’ client, Westminster City Council approached them asking if they could carry out the works as the hall had not been refurbished for over 10 years.

Used on a weekly basis, the hall is popular with residents and community groups including Hallfield Resident Association, older persons lunches funded by the local MP and Westminster Community Council resident meetings.

With the hall being situated on Hallfield Estate, one of the areas Axis are working in as part of their 10 year contract with Westminster City Council, they were keen to get involved to provide the local community with a more welcoming space.

Over the course of the summer, the team completed a range of works including replacing the vinyl flooring, fire doors and sanitary wear, refurbishing the kitchen area, and redecorating the kitchen, bathroom, community hall and communal walkway.

Commenting on the project Axis’ Kathryn Hulkes, Partnership Manager said, “The transformation of the hall is fantastic! We are delighted with the outcome and have received really positive feedback from the residents that use the space. A big thank you to Axis’ Terry Marsh and Harry Parsons for leading on the project, Subcontractors City South and Heron for donating their time, and Travis Perkins Managed Services for donating the materials. Great work all!”
