Sanctuary Housing has extended its financial welfare services to residents living in Foxhole, thanks to funding from its supplier and housing supply chain solutions provider, Travis Perkins Managed Services.

The Crafty Fox Cafe and Hub is a volunteer run social value project set up with support from Sanctuary in 2016 with the aims of reducing social isolation, offering the residents of Foxhole somewhere to meet, and helping people into employment.

More than just a community engagement space, the Hub offers a place to receive specialist advice, help with local services and job searches, free access to IT and telephones, access to a mental health counsellor and much more.

The funding provided by Travis Perkins Managed Services has enabled The Crafty Fox Cafe and Hub to employ a dedicated Welfare and Benefits Officer to support residents with all their benefits, budgeting, advocacy, and form filling needs. As a business that helps the community with the investment of our social value fund, we were proud to be involved in such an important project. By giving back to the community we understand the benefit it can have for local residents in places like Foxhole.

Maggie Devine, Social Value Manager at Travis Perkins Managed Services, said: “Over recent years we have all witnessed significant cuts to welfare spending and the impact this has on social tenants is becoming more and more evident. Financial inclusion is essential for our communities to thrive, and we are delighted to be able to support Sanctuary Housing to address this sensitive issue.”

Lynne Roberts, Sanctuary Housing’s Neighbourhood Partnerships Manager for Torbay, commented: “This volunteer-led social value project has already become an integral part of the community and is providing a valuable service to residents.

We are committed to projects that help residents live happy, healthy lives and we are delighted that Travis Perkins Managed Services is supporting the Crafty Fox to expand its offering, meaning it will be able to make an even greater difference.”
