Travis Perkins Managed Services have recently supported Yorkshire Housings customers with a £2000 ‘Route to Employment’ grant.

Yorkshire Housings Community Investment service supports hundreds of customers into work every year. A team of Employment Advisors work with a range of people to help them find employment and realise their potential.  The ‘Route to Employment’ grant supports the work that is already undertaken by the Yorkshire Housing Employment Advisors and is put in place to ensure the customer can get to work in the first month of employment, before the first wage, or to provide the right tools for the job.

The £2000 grant from Travis Perkins Managed Services was awarded to 18 individuals in 2017 and was used for a number of different things:

  • First month of employment commute to work
  • Registration to the Institute of Occupational Health
  • CSCS cards
  • DBS checks
  • Tool kits/belts, safety equipment and PPE
  • Bicycle
  • Childminding registration fees

All 18 of the Yorkshire Housing customers are still in employment today with 13 still in the same job the grant helped with securing and sustaining. This equates to a £188,995 social value impact which is an outstanding outcome.

Maggie Devine Social Value Manager said “We are delighted with the outcome and wish all the participants long term security and success in their employment
