Travis Perkins Managed Services, approached Northampton Borough Council regarding their community investment plan to convert a former social club into a night shelter for the homeless.
The Council is committed to ending rough sleeping in town and we were keen to be involved and help them make this commitment a reality. Travis Perkins Managed Services is proud to be a business that helps the community.
We provided the Council with volunteers to help with the clean-up and painting of the run-down building as well as providing all the materials. At Travis Perkins Managed Services we provide bespoke supply chain solutions. We were happy to provide our services to help the council with this social value project. Our volunteers logged 152 hours cleaning down the building, preparing and painting the walls and clearing the garden area to create a liveable and comfortable space.
The Northampton Night Shelter is now up and running as a central hub where homeless people can spend the night, shower, wash their clothes and even have something to eat. By investing in this community engagement project we were able to give back to the community. From here the Council is helping them to get work and find stable accommodation, helping them to move off the streets permanently.
